& PUBLIC HEARING ON THE 2010 BUDGET

Supervisor Belden opened the Public Hearing on the 2009 Budget at 6:30 pm.

 

Moment of Silence for the servicemen that were killed at Fort Hood in Texas today.

 

The Town Clerk read the following notice of publication (10/27/2009) in the Post Star.

TOWN OF HAGUE

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON THE 2010 PRELIMINARY BUDGET FOR THE TOWN OF HAGUE

 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the preliminary budget for the Town of Hague for the fiscal year beginning January 1, 2010, including general town funds, highway funds, fire protection, light & sewer district funds, with the Exemption Impact Report attached has been completed and filed in the office of the Town Clerk of the Town of Hague, 9793 Graphite Mountain Road, Hague, New York, where it is available for inspection by any interested person during regular office hours.

 

The Town Board of the Town of Hague shall hold a public hearing on said preliminary budget on the 5th day of November 2009 at 6:30 pm, showing such changes, alterations, and revisions as shall have been made therein by the Town Board of the Town of Hague.  At such hearing, any person may be heard in favor of or against the preliminary budget as compiled or for or against any items therein contained.

Supervisor:

Highway Superintendent:

$37,132.00

Councilmen: (4 @ $6,101.00)

$24,404.00

Town Clerk:

$15,299.00

Justice: 

$8,487.00

 

The Supervisor gave an overview of the proposed 2009 Budget.

 

Motion by R. Gladu, seconded by R. Meola to add $20,000 back into the Hague Fire Department Budget to be used to help with the Communication Feasibility Study and radio budget.  All voting yes.  Motion carried.

 

Discussion from the Board on adding additional money to the budget to offset the County Tax Rate. 

 

Motion by R. Meola, seconded by R. Gladu that the Town Board will apply a total of $500,000 to give to the County to offset the County tax levy for the residence of Hague in 2010.  AYES:  R. Gladu & R. Meola.  NAYS:  M. Martucci, E. Frasier, and Supervisor Belden.  Motion denied.

 

Supervisor Belden stated that the County uses $300,000 of sales tax revenue every year to offset the County tax rate for Hague residence.  The 2010 Budget is also allowing an additional $60,000 to be used to offset the County Tax rate for 2010.

 

Judy Stock inquired about the Justice position in regards to the revenue and expenditures.

 

The Assessor & Justice Committee will review the position and bring their recommendations back to the Town Board

Motion by R. Meola, seconded by E. Frasier to close public hearing and open meeting at 7:00 pm.  All voting yes.  Motion carried.

 

Motion by R. Gladu, seconded by M. Martucci to adopt the 2010 Budget.  AYES:  Supervisor Belden, E. Frasier, R. Gladu, R. Meola, and M. Martucci.  Motion carried.

 

Motion by R. Meola, seconded by E. Frasier to adjourn meeting at 7:05pm.  All voting yes.  Motion carried.
