Quoted in an article in the Press Republican, “(John) McDonald said that if voters reject the budget, the district can either vote again or go to a contingency budget. Using the state's formula, the contingency budget could actually be $263,900 higher than the proposed budget, he said.”
( Comment: The fact that the contingency budget has twice the impact on tax levy that the proposed budget all but guarantees the passage of the proposed budget and casts a shadow of doubt over the much quoted statistics of high Budget acceptance percentage ..rgg)
There are a total of 3712 registered voters in the TCS District, (Hague 645, Ticonderoga 3067). Over the past three years the number of voters on the school budget have dropped from 607 (16.4%) to 551 (14.8%).
Voter registration day is 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday in the High School lobby and Hague Community Center.
The vote is scheduled from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, in the High School lobby and Hague Community Center.
